Scientific advice in Oficina C as an emerging scientific career path

On the 10th of April, the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) organized a webinar, titled “Careers outside academia: Exploring new career opportunities”. Aimed at PhD students and young researchers, the event featured the testimony of a researcher in the industry, a specialist in science communication, the editor of a leading scientific journal and one of the scientific evidence technicians of the Office of Science and Technology of the Congress of the Deputies (Oficina C), Sofia Otero.
Sofia explained the work of Oficina C, what her day-to-day work consists of, the challenges and opportunities it poses, and the necessary skills to carry them out.
The presenters also answered questions from the public and offered practical advice for those who seek to advance their professional career beyond the laboratory
